A diary of mom is a story about Negrica Neca Djordjevic, told through the photographs of her sons, Stefan and Bosko. In 2017, Neca was diagnosed with cancer for the second time; the first time being fifteen years earlier, when she recovered herself by undergoing alternative treatments. She remained determined to use alternative methods of treatment, and moved into a small lake home in search of healing. This is a story of everyday struggle and last moments. The story of love and the will to live. To be present, to be here.
She is Negrica Djordjevic. She took me to the speech therapist. Made me the costume of Robin Hood. Whispered so headaches would stop. Didn’t graduate from university. Took me to karate lessons. Made fried zucchini. Worked as a coffee maker. Caught our parrot in the tree. Returned him back home. Separated from dad. Ripped my T-shirt. I left home. She did my technical drawings homework. I had an A. She got cancer. Taught me to bake mac and cheese. Didn’t want to buy a drumset for my friend. Cured from cancer. Accepted our jumping into nettles. Aluminum foil under the bed. Got back together with dad. Argued with my class elder. Became a class elder. Paid the university tuition. Got fired. Finished the family house. Turned fifty. Climbed the Rtanj mountain with us. Bought a camp trailer. Moved to Borsko jezero. Grew houseleek. Adopted a cat. Fell in love again. She is my mom.
